The Huge Impacts of Global Warming

On this page, we shall discuss information about global warming.

Global warming
is one of the biggest environmental problems facing humans right now. It is the increase of the earth's surface temperature. The increase of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide traps the heat, preventing it from escaping from the earth's surface. The increase of greenhouse gases is due to deforestations and burning of fossil fuels.

The amount of carbon dioxide in the earth's atmosphere today is 50% greater than the amount before the start of industrial revolution. Global warming impacts can be solved if all people do their part.

What causes global warming?
Humans and their industrialization efforts are the major contributing factors of global warming. People tend to live and continue to work without the care of how they hurt the earth's atmosphere. Here are some of the top causes of global warming either made by man or nature.

1. The Carbon dioxide emissions:

a.   Fossil fuel burning from power plants : Coaled power plant to generate electricity is the number 1 contributor of this problem. As the need for electricity supply increases, the more carbon dioxide is emitted by coaled power plants.

b.   Burning gasoline from transportations - The more vehicles running on the streets, the more CO2 emitted in the earths atmosphere.

2.   The Methane gas emissions:
a.   Anaerobic decompositions : A huge pile of waste products in the open dumpsite is the best example. Decomposition of these waste products is broken down by bacteria in the absence of oxygen will emit methane gas.

b.   Methane Clathrate - it is a compound, which contains large amount of methane trapped in the ice. If the ice melts, it will release certain amount of methane.

3.   The Deforestation: For the third world countries, the use of forest as fuel is rampant. While in the first world countries, forest are used for paper products and woods. Forest absorbs carbon dioxide, deforestation will eventually release large amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

4.   The Chemical Fertilizers: The use of commercially made fertilizers replaces the traditional animal manure to nourish farmland. Commercial fertilizers have huge amount of nitrogen, which has huge capacity of trapping heat than carbon dioxide. Excess fertilizers runs through the rivers and then to the oceans causing additional damage to human and animals.

What Is The Effect of Global Warming? Impacts of Global Warming on Earth:

Undeniably, the earth is warming. The effects of earths rising temperature are felt all over the world. Weather conditions are changing rapidly while precipitation patterns are worsening. Here are some of the effects/impacts of global warming:

1.   The rise of sea level: Ice structures in Antartica and Greenland are melting at an abnormal rate leading to the rise of sea levels worldwide.
2.   Abnormal Weather conditions: The severity of typhoons is increasing, hurricanes are becoming stronger, and low-lying areas are easily flooded.
3.   More crop failures: The climate change leads to the decrease of food production, resulting in shortage of food and starvation for many people.
4.   The Change of ecosystem: Some animals are dying and moving away from one place to the other. It also gives threat to other species.
5.   Disappearance and damage of coral reefs. Sea animals and species depend on the coral as their source of food and shelter. Acidification of the sea and the bleaching of corals will leads to its destruction. This is another one of harmful impacts of global warming.

It is the time to acknowledge that we are the main cause of global warming and solution will come from humans from all parts of the world. Let us join hands in our fight against global warming and pollution of earth's atmosphere.  Hope you found this information on global warming useful. Hope you are now inspired to take some action to solve this growing problem in your own small way.
